Crucial Dodgers Player to Make His Return to Natural Position on Sunday

It's been a long time coming for this L.A. infielder.

The wait is almost over for one of L.A.'s infielders.

After missing the entire 2023 season due to a torn ACL, Dodgers left-handed batter Gavin Lux will make his first start at shortstop on Sunday.

OC Register's Bill Plunkett was among the first to report.

Lux played in the first spring training game on Thursday against the San Diego Padres but served as the designated hitter. He'll also serve as the designated hitter in Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels for Anaheim.

Sunday, however, he'll resort back to his natural position. Lux was supposed to serve as the Dodger's everyday shortstop in 2023, but he suffered a torn ACL in spring training that caused him to miss the entire season.

He was stripped of the opportunity last season, but 2024 is looking up for the 26-year-old. Lux never had the chance to play shortstop on an everyday basis for the Dodgers, considering they had All-Stars and All-MLB types like Corey Seager and Trea Turner on the roster.

Those two are long gone, and Lux will prove he deserves to be handed the keys to shortstop. It may take some time for Lux to get his feet under him, but we're glad he's healthy enough to play the premier position he's been craving for so long.

A new era at shortstop is upon us, and we can't wait to see how the former top prospect looks after the injury.

*Lux is now expected to make his debut on Monday, according to Plunkett.
