Dodgers: Dave Roberts Talks About Two of LA's Latest Veteran Additions

The two veterans will add even more value to the team's winning culture.

Last weekend, the Dodgers broke a signing lull and added veterans David Peralta and former All-Star closer Alex Reyes. Both received one-year deals, and Reyes’ contract included a team option.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media on Thursday about LA’s newest additions and what they mean to the roster heading into the season.

"I think with both guys, it's experience. They're both, from what I've gathered, great teammates, great competitors. And so I think to kind of get assimilated with what we do with the Dodgers and the culture, I think it'll be easy but certainly very additive given their track records. I'm excited."

Roberts continued to discuss how he sees Peralta benefitting the team:

"We have a lot of guys on our roster that handle left-handed pitching, so having a guy like David who throughout his career has been very, very good against right-handed pitching ... he's going to be very helpful for this ballclub."

Peralta has already earned a reputation as a consistent left-handed hitter and is sure to add value to the outfield with depth and versatility.

As for Reyes, the righty hopes to return to form this year. Because the pitcher missed the entire 2022 season with a right shoulder injury, he’ll likely miss at least a few months this season as well. The 28-year-old has the potential to be a key, reliable pitcher if he can stay healthy.

Nevertheless, the addition of these two players is a plus. Both veterans are sure to provide their strengths to the bullpen to improve LA’s roster.
