Dodgers: Dustin May Will Be Pitching With An Unofficial Limit in 2023

At spring training, Dave Roberts talked about the young pitcher and how he has been progressing.

The Dodgers are aiming to utilize right-handed pitcher Dustin May this upcoming season. After he made his big league debut in 2019, May showed how much of a powerful arm he has.

Even with his early success, May is still developing, especially after coming back from his Tommy John surgery last year. Now that he is fully recovered and revitalizing his game, the Dodgers are hoping May can step up this season and remain healthy.

Manager Dave Roberts discussed the 25-year-old at spring training and touched upon how May has been progressing:

“It’s going to be different from him versus a guy that was healthy all last year. We’re definitely gonna be mindful of it. With Dustin he’s a guy that he’s, he looks strong — strong of mind as well, he’s a great competitor, so he’s always going to want more. So I don’t know, right now, the limitations, but certainly being mindful of the last year and what he had to go through. We got to be cognizant of that. But as far as like innings limits, stress of an inning, or outings or how we kind of manage it in the season, I don’t know yet. But, I’m excited for him to start the season healthy and not be in that rehab mode.”

As May stays on track, he has the potential to be a dominant force in the Dodger’s rotation. This spring will be a great opportunity to see how far the young pitcher has come.
