Dodgers Highlights: Bats Explode for 5 Runs in Extra Innings To Win the Game And the Division

Good pitching and a 5-run eleventh give the Dodgers the win and the National League Western Division title.

On a beautiful Saturday night in Seattle, in eleven innings, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Mariners 6-to-1. The Dodgers clinched the National League Western Division title.

Mookie Betts singled to open the game but was erased on a grounder by Freddie Freeman.

Clayton Kershaw, making his first start in eleven days, issued a walk to open the first inning and another walk. He got out of the first inning. In the second, Kershaw allowed a single but struck out two. While neither his velocity nor command has improved, he is getting outs. He can’t get the feel for the ball. Kershaw settled down in the third and fourth. In his four innings, Kershaw allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4.

Jason Heyward doubled in the second but was stranded.

Freeman singled in the third but was left.

To open the fifth, Heyward doubled and advanced to third on Miguel Rojas’ grounder but was left.

Emmet Sheehan relieved Kershaw and pitched a scoreless fifth.

To open the sixth, Freeman walked but was erased on a double play by Max Muncy.

Sheehan pitched a flawless sixth and a scoreless seventh. He struck out six.

Heyward doubled in the seventh against a lefty but was left.

Alex Vesia relieved Sheehan and was in trouble, allowing two singles. Dave Roberts lifted Vesia for Ryan Brasier. He escaped the jam.

Brusdar Graterol hurled a perfect ninth.

In the tenth, Chris Taylor had an infield single moving Amed Rosario to third. James Outman was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kolten Wong had a sac fly.

Evan Phillips allowed the tying run in the tenth.

In the eleventh, Max Muncy singled in Betts. Taylor singled in Will Smith. Heyward singled in Muncy. Kiké Hernàndez singled in Taylor and Rosario.

Joe Kelly sealed the victory and the National League Western Division title.
