Dodgers Injury News: Updates on Mookie Betts and Yency Almonte

The latest on the injury front.

The Dodgers announced a couple of health updates ahead of Saturday night's game against the Rockies.

First, Mookie Betts was scratched from the original starting lineup with what has been called a stomach bug.

David Peralta took over for Betts at the top of the lineup and Kiké Hernandez slots in at second base after spending the last few games at third base.

Roberts expects Betts to be back in the lineup on Sunday. However, with Monday being an off day, it wouldn't be overly surprising to see him get another day of rest.

In injury news, the club loses right-handed reliever Yency Almonte to the IL with a sprained MCL, according to manager Dave Roberts. Almonte suffered the injury while attempting to lock down the final six outs of Friday night's ballgame.

In a best case scenario, he'll miss just the minimum 15 days on the IL. Lefty reliever Victor Gonzalez was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Almonte's place on the active roster. Veteran right-hander Shelby Miller, who is on the mend from a neck issue, is eligible to come off the IL on August 20th.

The struggling Tony Gonsolin gets the start for the Dodgers on Saturday, facing a Colorado team he's had some success against in his career. He owns a 2.67 lifetime ERA vs the Rockies.
