Things have been uncharacteristically bad for the Dodgers on the road this season. After Sunday's loss, the boys in blue are now 2 games under .500 away from Dodger Stadium at 17-19. By the sound of Dave Roberts and some others, they're not 100% certain why.

“I think if you kind of look at how it’s been on the road, I think it’s been on the run prevention side,” Roberts said on Sunday. “I think consistently at home, on the road, we’re putting up runs, giving ourselves a chance to win. But kind of overarching, whether it’s starter, reliever, I think it’s on the run prevention side. That’s something that we’re trying to figure it out and hopefully come up with some answers."

In other words, the pitching staff is kind of blowing it but he's not going to say that part out loud. The Dodgers have lost four of their last five series on the road

Star first baseman Freddie Freeman was asked if he had any reason or explanation for the road woes.

“I don’t have one. We’re just not winning. We’re not doing anything different on the road than at home, other than we hit first. I don’t know.”

The Dodgers not hitting first cost them a few times on this recently concluded road trip. The Reds and Phillies combined to walk them off three times in six games.

“You’re still gonna have to play road games, Roberts said. "We've gotta figure this thing out.”

The Dodgers are now 3.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West.
