The Padres have stirred up a ton of drama this weekend following their classlessness and blatant disrespect towards Dodgers legend Clayton Kershaw. Following the team’s 5-2 win over Kershaw and the Dodgers on Friday, the stadium’s video board team decided to put a disrespectful meme of a crying Clayton Kershaw.

While we don’t need to get into any of that anymore, it did feel important to talk about the respect that did come out of that game.

Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. hit two home runs off Kershaw during the game, and danced around the bases in his classic fashion. After the game, though, he had nothing but respect for one of the greatest pitchers of all time (per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register).

“Facing one of the best all time, we’ve got to bring our best. Our lineup was fighting him from top to bottom,” Tatis Jr. said about facing Kershaw. “Like I said, he’s one of the best of all time. You’ve got to bring your best when you’re facing that guy.”

The Padres video board team should learn something from Tatis, considering Kershaw has won more in his career than the entire Padres organization.

And even more so, at the young age of 35, he was coming off a month in which he just took home the National League Pitcher of the Month Award. Somehow, in his 16th season in the league, Kershaw just keeps getting better.

Kershaw will get an opportunity to face those Padres again at the end of this week, this time at Dodger Stadium. We’ll see how round two goes for the uber-confident Padres.

I don’t expect the Dodger video board to stoop as low as the Padres, but I do expect Dodger fans to have some fun with the Padres in town.
