Yes, Gavin Stone is making his big league debut today. For some reason, the Dodgers kept it a closely guarded secret, but everyone knew. Even Clayton Kershaw let the cat out of the bag before Tuesday night's game on the TV pre game show.

The number 4 prospect in the Dodgers' system and 49th in baseball, per MLB pipeline was exceptional in 4 games with LA during spring training. He didn't allow a run while striking out 14 batters in just 6.2 innings. He actually spent most of camp with the big league team, a sign that the team was readying him for the call this season.

Kershaw referenced Stone's time with the club in a conversation on SportsNet LA's pre game show. It made him realize how much things have changed over the years for rookies making their debut.

"I tell you what, I feel like young guys are so much more prepared or they just don't have as much of a care factor -- not a care factor, but I feel like they've been around it so much more. When I first got called up, I didn't know any of those guys in the clubhouse. So, it was kind of a shock to the system to get to be there. And Gavin, he was around us all in spring training -- he's just got such a level head about him. I'm sure he's gonna have some nerves and emotions tomorrow. When he pitches, I think it's going to be pretty awesome to watch. He's got a really good demeanor, man. I really like the way he carries himself, handles himself. I didn't give him any advice, but he's gonna be fine."

It's a narrative several Dodgers have shared. Austin Barnes talked about Stone's poise on the mound as being plus. Freddie Freeman had this to say, via The Athletic.

“He said it was the nastiest changeup he’s ever seen,” Freeman recalled Muncy saying. ... He looks like a little (Tim) Lincecum,” Freeman remarked, a nod to Stone’s ability to bring such electricity from such a small frame.
