Dodgers News: Daniel Hudson Dealing with New Injury While Recovering from Knee Surgery

Dek: Hudson should be good to go for Opening Day

Your Los Angeles Dodgers will be getting some reinforcement in the bullpen soon. LA reliever Daniel Hudson is set to return after suffering a torn ACL in mid-June in a game against the Atlanta Braves.
However, while recovering from that injury, Dodgers reporter Kirsten Watson tweeted that Hudon is dealing with ankle tendinitis.

Nonetheless, Watson followed that up by tweeting he would throw a bullpen on Friday.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts also delivered some good news surrounding the 35-year-old.

"Good reports [on Hudson]. Obviously, getting him back pretty much to full health is a great thing. I don't know the timeline, being hopeful for Opening Day. But I know he's going to be a huge contributor and a big staple for us."

This is great news for the righty reliever, as he is only eight months removed from the injury and was one of the better relievers for Los Angeles last season.

In his first season with the club, Hudson had a great campaign; he went 2-3 with a 2.22 ERA, struck out 30 batters, and had a 0.90 WHIP in 25 games and 24.1 innings pitched.

Hudson also collected five saves in 2022, and if things are looking good for him this season, he could find himself on the mound for some or most of the 9th-inning saves.

The Dodgers don’t have a solidified closer as they’ve had in the past, so many could flip-flip in that role.

Hudson closed out the 2019 World Series as a member of the Washington Nationals, and barring health, he will be looking to do the same with the Boys in Blue.
