One thing the Dodgers don't want to see is Freddie Freeman going on the IL. In a part of the season where their struggles have made the game harder, having Freeman in the lineup virtually every day is key to staying consistent and getting a quality at-bat every time he comes to the plate.

During the game Sunday against the Giants, Freeman had an awkward slide that looked like it might be more serious than it actually is. He said in the postgame:

"I'm ok. I jammed it sliding into second base when I put it down. The pain went away as the game went along, but I was a little worried for a second. All good now. No worries, no concerns. I didn't get treatment after the game."

Injuries sliding into second base happen all over the MLB, with a lot of them affecting the second baseman or shortstop that is turning the double play. However, the last thing the Dodgers needed was Freeman coming up gimpy after that play.

Freeman is batting .324 on the season, which leads the team, and he's played in all 72 of the team's games this season.

He's been as consistent as anybody in the league and prides himself on being able to play day in and day out.

His presence at the top of the lineup is definitely much needed for this Dodgers team that has been on a little skid as of late.

Fortunately, it seems like everything is okay for the former MVP, and he should be ready to go for the midweek series against the Angels this week.
