Dodgers fans were given quite the scare on Tuesday when superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman was removed from Team Canada's World Baseball Classic game with an apparent hamstring issue. The team immediately took him out of the game, and after the game, Canada's Manager, Ernie Witt, said he didn't expect Freeman to play for Canada on Wednesday in their win-and-in game against Mexico.

Wednesday morning, Witt confirmed that statement, saying the Dodgers decided to take him out of the tournament and bring him back to LA's spring training grounds for further evaluation (per Jorge Castillo of the LA Times).

"He's out of this tournament for now," Witt said. "The Dodgers decided that. He's over in camp right now getting looked at by the doctors and training staff."

It appears to be some sort of hamstring strain for Freeman, at least that's what MLB insider Bob Nightengale has been calling it. Freeman reportedly had been feeling tightness in his hamstring, which is why he was removed from the game.

Hopefully this is not something that lingers, but it's easy to understand why the Dodgers wanted to be extra cautious in this situation. Freeman is one of, if not, the most important player on this team, and the Dodgers need him 100 percent healthy come Opening Day.

Hopefully the Dodgers are able to send out an update soon regarding Freeman, but for now, we'll hope that this is not a serious issue.
