Dodgers News: Jason Heyward Shares Insight Into Freddie Freeman’s Career Growth

The two Dodgers have known each other since they were teenagers and both played for the Braves together.

Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman may be in LA together for the first time, but the pair have quite some history already. The two Dodgers have known each other since they were teenagers and both played together in Atlanta after being the Braves’ first two picks in the 2007 draft. After grinding it out in the minors alongside each other, they both made their major league debuts in 2010.

Although Heyward was traded to the Cardinals in 2014, the two now meet again in Los Angeles. Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation spoke to Heyward and the right fielder shared his thoughts on his longtime friend Freeman.

"He's right where he should be. Playing for a historic franchise with an opportunity to win a ring in the middle of a lineup that can do a lot of damage. He wants to play, he loves the game. It's awesome to see."

There is no doubt Heyward and Freeman hold a close bond and look up to one another for motivation. After all, Freeman was a big part of bringing Heyward to LA this off-season. The two will continue to learn from each other as Heyward works to make his way onto the team’s 40-man roster.
