The Dodgers made a move a day before the All-Star break concludes, signing former Houston Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick to a Major League deal.

Fabian Ardaya was on the scoop, along with Kenny Van Doren.

This now gives the Dodgers an extra right-handed bat for their lineup and even though it's not a splashy move, it could end up working out. The team has a way of bringing in other team's unwanted players and turning them into effective pieces.

On the season, Marisnick is hitting 232/.270/.420 with two home runs and 10 runs batted in. He was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers a few days ago and now lands in LA.

Throughout his 11-year career, he has never really been strong with the bat but has been an excellent defender. He has been more of a part-time player over the last few seasons, but he can still provide some upside defensively to the team if given the chance.

Dodger fans likely remember Marisnick from the 2017 Houston Astros team that defeated them in the World Series. While he wasn't a key member to that team, he was still a part of the cheating scandal and fans may not ever fully forgive that.

Marisnick provides the team with more veteran experience as they head down the stretch of the season. His best season as a pro came in the 2017 season when he hit .243 with 16 home runs and 35 runs batted in.

He likely won't provide much from the plate but this move is strictly to add some depth to the Dodgers bench. The team has seen a ton of injuries this season so it makes sense why they would want to upgrade that area.

It'll be interesting to see what other moves the Dodgers make as the trade deadline approaches.
