The Dodgers made a last minute splash by bringing in 31-year-old pitcher Ryan Yarbrough at the deadline. As the team aims to fill out some innings across the pitching staff, the focus is on how the club will utilize Yarbrough in the coming months.

Yarbrough's experience with the Tampa Bay Rays showcased his versatility and willingness to pitch in any role. He started games, opened games, and has provided solid relief appearances over the course of his career. For the Dodgers, it should be more of the same... a little bit of everything.

“With Tampa, you have to be really fluid. Everything was fluid. I’ve done a little bit of everything when I was with Tampa. So I don’t think it’ll be too much of an adjustment. It’s just a matter of being ready. I’ve made some good adjustments, so just keeping those in good places.”

The veteran left-hander really does sound like the perfect Dodger for the stretch run. Dave Roberts talked a bit about what he expects out of the deadline acquisition.

"I think for Yarbs there’s going to be opportunities to start, other opportunities to come in and pitch the bulk of a game. He’s done them both. From what I’ve heard, he prefers to start but ultimately he’s going to do what we ask and that’s the most important.”

As Yarbrough settles into the Dodgers' pitching staff, he has already demonstrated his best recently. Before being traded from the Royals, he had a 2.19 ERA over his last four outings, all of which were starts.

He doesn't get the start on Saturday, that went to rookie Michael Grove, but Yarbrough should play a part in tonight's game.

The Dodgers hope Yarbrough can offer stability and length in games, addressing a need for the team. As they gear up for a World Series push, Yarbrough's ability to adapt and perform in various roles will be a valuable asset.
