Dodgers Rookie Is Spending Time with 3B Coach to Get Better at Second Base

Miguel Vargas is expecting to play a significant role for the Dodgers this year. Recently at FanFest, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts even voiced how he will be positioning the young Cuban at second base.

The top prospect has already shown a lot of potential and aims to become a more versatile player this upcoming season. Last year, at Triple-A Oklahoma City, Vargas played in left field while spending a small amount of time at first and second base. With his new role, he is now working to become more comfortable at second base.

At FanFest on Saturday, the 23-year-old told SportsNetLA’s Kirsten Watson how he’s been preparing for his new position:

"I've been spending a lot of time there, working out at second base a lot in Miami. Spending a lot of time here working out with Dino (Ebel). I feel incredible there, I feel ready to help this team in what ever they ask me to do."

Watson continued to ask how it has been thus far working with former middle infielder and current Dodgers third-base coach, Dino Ebel:

"It's been great, he's been able to help me out every single day, we always have a plan of what to do, what to go over. He has so much experience, so much knowledge, so just taking as much as I can every single time I go out with him."

With the start of Spring Training a few weeks away, Vargas' full skillset will be on full display as he becomes more acclimated at second base. The young prospect has the tools to excel in his new position and is already committed to leveling up his game.
