Dodgers Rumors: Offseason Trade Target Tyler Glasnow Likely To Be Moved This Offseason

Could he be the solution for LA's rotation?

Dodger fans know all about Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow and his great performances after LA faced him twice in their 2020 World Series victory.

The tall righty is still pitching for Tampa but those days may soon end this offseason.

South Florida's ownership group operates on a tight payroll with an analytical mind and hasn't been afraid to deal with their star talents when they become too expensive.

Glasnow could be the next victim of such a trend as the Dodgers and plenty of other teams will be happy to pounce on the attractive trade commodity.

Ever since right-hander Tyler Glasnow signed an extension with the Rays that guaranteed him a $25MM payday in 2024, speculation has percolated throughout the baseball world that Tampa would look to move him before the final year of that contract. With RosterResource projecting the Rays for a franchise-record payroll of $130MM next year, moving Glasnow would be a viable strategy for the club to get closer to their 2022 level of $79MM.

The former Pirate came to Tampa Bay along with Austin Meadows in an infamous deal that Pittsburgh still wants back.

Both Meadows and Glasnow became part of the Rays' World Series core but the latter is the only one of the pair to stay through this year.

Injuries plagued Glasnow's progress in the past few seasons but the Cillian Murphy lookalike started 21 games for the team this year.

In those regular season outings, Glasnow had a 3.53 ERA with 162 strikeouts in 120 innings of work, but couldn't find his rhythm in his lone postseason appearance.

Still, any team searching for rotation would be foolish not to give the veteran a chance due to his dominant stuff and LA could be the perfect landing spot if they so choose.
