Dodgers Rumors: Writer Thinks LA Should Trade Top Prospects for Cy Young Winning Pitcher

A talented arm, but is he worth the price?

The Dodgers are in the midst of the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chavez Ravine, but it could've been the Brewers had they beaten the Snakes last week.

With another early season exit despite a 90-win campaign, Milwaukee has plenty of decisions to make this offseason.

One of these choices circulates their ace Corbin Burnes who could finally be a Dodger after years of discontent about his arbitration numbers and lack of an extension for his service to the club. Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report put together a potential trade proposal to get the star in Los Angeles this offseason.

Dalton Rushing has been excellent ever since he was drafted in the second round of the 2022 draft, but his fellow Louisville alum Will Smith mans LA's backstop position and likely will for years to come.

Nick Frasso is in a similar position as his stuff will play at the major league level, but fellow rookie pitchers Ryan Pepiot, Emmet Sheehan, Bobby Miller, Gavin Stone, and Michael Grove all registered major league time before him.

Burnes won the 2021 Cy Young Award after a dominant year with a 2.43 ERA over 167 innings and 234 punchouts.

The Bakersfield native followed up his award-winning campaign with two more All-Star seasons for the Brew Crew, making the Midsummer Classic in the past three seasons.

Now 28 years old, Burnes has just one year of arbitration before he hits the free market, but his days in Milwaukee could be numbered.

The Brewers already showed a want to deal away their star pitchers before they hit free agency after they gave Josh Hader away to San Diego at the 2022 deadline to pave the way for Devin Williams as closer.

Burnes could follow a similar tale if Milwaukee doesn't want to pay him and the Dodgers might be the right suitor due to their assets seemingly being excess goods and a great fit for the NL Central contender.
