Dodgers Scorched Online for Bizarre Timing of Celebration

David Peralta scrutinized for having fun.

The Dodgers lost to the Diamondbacks on a final of 11-2 in Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday night. For some fans, the game was over before they even parked their cars after battling LA traffic and missing a 6 run first inning for Arizona.

The visiting ballclub added 3 more runs in the top of the 2nd inning before the Dodgers finally picked up their first extra base hit of the night. David Peralta recorded a double and proceeded to do the usual team celebration.

Optically it didn't make sense to baseball watchers who were not in the know with the LA Dodger way of celebrating in 2023. You "choo choo" on a single and you "Freddie" on a double. Peralta Freddie'd while down 9 runs in the 2nd innings and people's Twitter fingers went to work.

Internet fun is fun and all, but Peralta was 100% in the right with the celebration. Especially with these Dodgers who never feel out of it, even when they're down.

Unfortunately, the early deficit proved too much to overcome and they fell one game behind in the NLDS.

After a Sunday day off, the Dodgers and D-backs get back to work on Monday at Dodger Stadium with rookie right-hander Bobby Miller toeing the rubber for LA.
