Former Dodger Justin Turner Hospitalized After Getting Hit By Pitch in the Face

Hopefully he's okay.

Red Sox third baseman Justin Turner was forced to exit Boston's Monday spring training game after getting hit in the face with a fastball. Turner immediately went to the ground, and blood started gushing from his face. It was a pretty ugly scene, one that forced Turner to head straight to the hospital for testing.

The Red Sox sent out on update on Twitter following the incident.

"Justin Turner was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation after being hit in the face by a pitch. He's receiving treatment for soft tissue injuries, and is being monitored for a concussion. He will undergo further testing, and we'll update as we have more information. Justin is stable, alert, and in good spirits given the circumstances."

Here's the video of him getting hit in the face, courtesy of Ben Verlander. If you have a weak stomach, I suggest you don't watch because it's a little ugly:

We're sending our thoughts and prayers to Turner and his family, and hope he's okay. We'll continue to update you on his status when we learn more, but it sounds like he's in a good condition and they're checking for a concussion.
