If you've been a Dodger fan for long enough, you probably remember the name Willie Calhoun. He was once seen as one of the most promising young names in the Dodgers organization.

In 2017, he ranked as high as the #4 prospect in the organization. Midway through the 2017 season, he was traded to the Rangers for Yu Darvish.

Since then, he's spent some time with the Giants and the Yankees, and now as the trade deadline approaches, he'll be looking for a new home.

This year, Calhoun is batting .239 with a .309 OBP and .403 SLG.

Injuries have really hurt his career. He's struggled to find playing time, and his career high for games played in a season is 83 in 2019 with Texas.

The Yankees outfield is expecting Aaron Judge back in the lineup tonight, so somebody had to be the odd man out and unfortunately, Calhoun's name was called.

If he can stay healthy, he could be a very good platoon option for a team in need at the deadline, but given his injury history, teams might be cautious to sign him or trade for him.

Now where could he end up?

Well, if he passes through waivers unclaimed, he can elect free agency, and then teams can come knocking. But honestly, I think his options might be few and far between.

There are a lot better options for teams out there than a borderline platoon outfielder who can't seem to stay healthy.

He's 28, so still relatively young, so who knows, things could turn around for Calhoun and he could still salvage his career, but ultimately it's all up to fate, and if somebody gives him a chance to play in the big leagues again.
