Former Dodgers infielder Hanser Alberto is officially looking for a new home.

On Friday, the Chicago White Sox announced a series of roster moves on Twitter, that included Alberto being designated for assignment. He was DFA'd to make room for the returning Elvis Andrus from the injured list.

Alberto signed a minor league deal with the White Sox this offseason and earned himself a spot on the Opening Day roster. The 30-year-old appeared in 30 games with Chicago this season, hitting .220 with three home runs and 16 runs batted in.

Alberto spent the 2022 season with the Dodgers, and turned into a fan favorite due to his energy on the bench.

Alberto was always leading the celebrations, and aided the chemistry for the historic 111-win team.

On the field, Alberto is remembered more for his work as the blowout reliever than what he did with the bat.

In 73 games, Alberto slashed .244/.258/.365 with two home runs and 15 runs batted in. As a reliever, though, Alberto made 10 appearances, and sported an impressive 4.09 ERA, even getting a strikeout.

Now, the 30-year-old will head to waivers, hoping to find a new home again. Alberto has been with the Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, Dodgers and White Sox in his career, and will hope to latch onto a team for the remainder of the 2023 season.

While Alberto's numbers are down from the best years of his career, he's still a solid veteran presence on the bench, and someone who will get some big hits when you need them.

The Dodgers aren't likely to be interested in Alberto, as they have enough below-average hitters on their team right now. However, he should be able to find a new home at some point this season, and hopefully he's able to stay there for the remainder of the year.
