Former Dodgers Hitting Coach Joining Mariners Staff in Unspecified Role
Former Dodgers hitting coach Brant Brown is joining the Seattle Mariners coaching staff, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Brown spent the last season with the Miami Marlins, and will now head to Seattle as a member of the coaching staff.
Dodger fans are very familiar with Brown, as he spent the 2018 through 2022 seasons with LA.
Brown was hired by the Dodgers at the end of 2017 as an assistant hitting coach and minor league hitting coordinator. Then, in 2019, he was promoted to the position of hitting strategist.
That's where Brown would be until the end of the 2022 season, when he was hired by Miami to be a hitting coach.
After just one year in Miami, though, Brown is now going to Seattle, where he worked earlier in his career as a minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator.
Brown also had a playing career from 1996-2000, and played for the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates and Florida Marlins.
Last year, Max Muncy spoke to DodgersNation.com about the loss of Brown and what he meant to the team.
“I think it’ll be a big loss," Muncy said. "For me personally, it hurts a lot. I worked very closely with Brant for the last four, five years. And going back to when we cut Turner Ward loose, or he took the job with the Reds, I worked very closely with Brant for all those years. And so, for him being gone, that one’s going to be a tough one for me."
Clearly, Brown was a big part of what the Dodgers did from 2018-2022, so we'll see what he can do in Seattle.
