Former Dodgers infielder Matt Beaty is officially looking for a new home. On Tuesday, the San Francisco Giants made a slew of roster moves that included designating Beaty for assignment.

Beaty appeared in just four games with the Giants this season, going 1-for-5 with one RBI and two strikeouts.

He signed with the Kansas City Royals this offseason, but was purchased by the Giants ahead of the beginning of the year. Now, after just five at-bats, Beaty has been DFA'd and will be looking for his next home.

Beaty began his career with the Dodgers back in 2019 and spent three seasons in Los Angeles. He played a combined 240 games over those three seasons, slashing .262/.333/.425 over that time with an OPS of .758.

Then, ahead of the 2022 season, Beaty was traded by the Dodgers to the NL West rival San Diego Padres in a bit of a surprising move.

Beaty only played in 20 games for the Padres and went 4-for-43 with an OPS of .333. And to make matters worse, the guy the Padres traded to the Dodgers — minor league reliever River Ryan — has been dominant in the minor leagues, sporting a 2.24 career ERA in 24 MiLB games.

This season in Double-A Tulsa, Ryan has made nine appearances and eight starts, and has an incredible 1.93 ERA. He's just one of the many dominant starting pitchers in Double-A for the Dodgers this season.

Back to Beaty, though, he'll head to waivers hoping to be claimed by a new team. He's now played for three of the five NL West teams in the Dodgers, Padres and Giants, so it seems that the obvious next step will be joining the Arizona Diamondbacks or Colorado Rockies. We'll have to see what happens, though, and if he gets claimed by a team, or just gets sent outright to Triple-A.
