The Los Angeles Dodgers had one of their more exciting wins thanks to David Peralta and some of our favorite rookies on Saturday. However, they then followed it up by losing 3-2 on Sunday and dropped their first series of 2023 against the Chicago Cubs.

If there is one word that could describe LA's squad recently, it's been inconsistent. Without a doubt, they look like a group that could shock the world and make a World Series run. But other nights, they meet the expectations of doubters and fail to stay composed down the stretch.

However, this same label was placed on the umpire by numerous Dodgers players after Sunday's loss. As the Boys in Blue did their best to try and create some offense late in the game, the likes of Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward both struck out on some very questionable pitches.

Heyward spoke to Spectrum Sportsnet following the conclusion of the game and let's just say he wasn't too pleased. He went as far as to compare the officiating to that of the minor leagues.

"To be fair and honest, you never know, you're in the moment," said Heyward. "I've given them the benefit of the doubt for 14 years, never been tossed. First one on 3-1 felt in but I was like, 'Alright, get ready to protect.' And 3-2 felt further, haven't seen a call like that low A."

Freeman also chipped in about what happened on his own similar play and he said he was told his strike zone was inconsistent as well.

"It's hard to tell from the side of the dugout but obviously Jason thought his was a ball, my wife just told me mine was too," said Freeman. "It is what it is."

Finally, team manager Dave Roberts shared his thoughts and he was brutally honest.

"I do think those two pitches on Jason were missed," said Roberts. "We don't expect those guys to be perfect, I don't think anyone does but the fact is he missed them. Did it change the game? We'll never know."
