Freddie Freeman Haunted by Missed Pitch vs Gallen in Dodgers Loss

Freeman's costly strikeout stays on his mind

As the Dodgers were down two runs to the Diamondbacks in Game Two of the NLDS, the team received a prime opportunity to get back in the game.

In the fifth inning, with runners on second and third and two outs, one of the team's NL MVP candidates, Freddie Freeman stepped up to the plate with an opportunity to tie the game.

With the payoff pitch coming in, Freeman watched a curveball fall right down the middle of the plate and ultimately struck out.

Knowing that he missed a prime opportunity to put the Dodgers in a position to win, Freeman has been upset with himself since the moment he watched the pitch go by.

"I had a 1-1 cutter that will not make me sleep tonight. That's the one pitch I needed to hit, and I didn't hit it. Then he threw three straight curveballs. Good pitch. Three straight, you're not usually used to that."

Ever since his historic month of August, Freeman has said that his swing has not been feeling right over the past six weeks.

Although he has been right at the plate, Freeman does know that the D-Backs provide a challenge with their elite pitching both in the rotation and in the bullpen.

"We talked about this about two weeks into the season, we knew they were a good team. And when you have Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly pitching good games and our offense hasn't been hot, we haven't been doing what we need to do so we just need to go get them on Wednesday." (Via KTLA5 News)

Now with their back against the wall, Freeman and the Dodgers know that they are going to have to wake the bats up if they have any chance to come back in the NLDS.
