Two NL West Rivals Listed as Finalists For Dodgers Free Agent

The long-time Dodger utility player is linked to two of L.A's biggest division rivals.

The 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers are a new team. They revamped this roster for the better, and this team is primed for greatness.

Although the Dodgers have made a significant addition to the team, some of their key players from 2023 will no longer don the Dodger Blue. One of their key losses is their utility star, Kiké Hernández

Hernández entered the offseason as a free agent, and that remains the case in late February. He has yet to sign with a team; however, the team at The Athletic reported that he has narrowed his decision to four teams, including two of L.A.'s division rivals, the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants.

Free-agent super-utility man Kiké Hernández is choosing between four teams, according to sources briefed on his discussions. The finalists, in no particular order, are the Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.

Seeing Hernández in the brown and gold or the black and orange would be an eyesore.

The 32-year-old opened the 2023 season as the shortstop for the Boston Red Sox. However, he struggled mightily in the first half of the season, resulting in his return to Los Angeles via trade.

In his time in L.A. in 2023, Hernández slashed .262/.308/.423 down the stretch in Los Angeles while bouncing around every spot on the diamond except for the catcher. The veteran has served most of his career as a bench bat alongside his diversity all over the baseball field.

Hernández does his best work against southpaws with a .801 career OPS as he came up big for the Boys in Blue, time and time again.

It's a shame Los Angeles didn't have a spot for the utility star, but we wish him the best in his next journey. Selfishly, we hope it isn't with the hated one or the little brothers.
