Yency Almonte Breaks Silence on Social Media Following Trade From Dodgers

The two-year Dodger reliever says his goodbyes to the L.A. fanbase and organization

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to trade away their No. 2 overall prospect, Michael Busch, and right-handed reliever, Yency Almonte. In exchange, the Boys in Blue will receive the Chicago Cubs' No. 8 prospect, lefty pitcher Jackson Ferris, and outfield prospect Zyhir Hope.

Busch was around for a handful of games, but his time in Los Angeles was primarily limited. As for Almonte, he spent two seasons in Dodger Blue and did quite well for the team. The trade was announced over an hour ago, and it didn't take long for Almonte to say his goodbyes to the Dodger fanbase and the organization via Twitter/X.

Almonte was a solid fixture out of the bullpen for the Dodgers. In two seasons in Los Angeles, the righty reliever recorded a 3.35 ERA, 82 strikeouts, and a 1.14 WHIP in 83.1 innings pitched and 82 games.

The move was a way for the Dodgers to clear up room on their 40-man roster. Busch is considered the main player in this package because of his age and big-bat ability, but Almonte can impact the Cubs' bullpen from day one.

With these players off the team, the Dodgers' 40-man roster is currently at 38. Teoscar Hernandez would bring it to 39.
