Which Guardians Will Compete In The World Baseball Classic?

The Cleveland Guardians will have eight players competing in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Fans won't have to wait long to watch some intense and meaningful baseball. Even though MLB's Opening Day won't be for another couple of months, the World Baseball Classic is right around the corner.

The Cleveland Guardians will have a handful of players from all across the organization representing their country in the tournament.

These players are:

  • Richie Palacios - OF - Netherlands
  • Andres Gimenez - SS - Venezuela
  • Bo Naylor - C - Canada
  • Cal Quantrill - RHP - Canada
  • Cade Smith - RHP - Canada
  • Dayan Froas - SS - Colombia
  • Meibrys Viloria - C - Colombia
  • Josh Wolf - RHP - Israel
  • Enyel De Los Santos - RHP (Designated Pitchers Pool) - Dominican Republic

It'll be great to get to watch these players compete in what is quickly becoming a showcase of incredible talent from all across the world.

The WBC is also gaining a reputation for having a fun, high-energy, and intense environment. This will give some of these younger Guardians players experience playing in a different environment than an MLB park in the middle of the summer.

One drawback of these players competing in the WBC is that it will coincide with Spring Training so they will be absent from camp. I don't blame them for missing though. This is an opportunity that may only come around once in a lifetime and they'll still be playing high-level baseball.
