New York Mets to Hire Tom McCarthy's Son for Broadcast Role

The New York Mets are set to hire Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy's son, Pat McCarthy, for a radio broadcasting role.

Patrick McCarthy, the son of Philadelphia Phillies television play-by-play voice Tom McCarthy, has been named as the WCBS pre- and postgame host for the New York Mets telecasts, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.

Patrick will also call games when Howie Rose is off.

Patrick McCarthy had been calling Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs games. Last season, the 26-year-old filled in on two Phillies broadcasts while Tom was broadcasting an NFL preseason game.

Patrick has agreed to the deal though the contract has yet to be signed, Marchand reported.
