Harper Shines Despite Philadelphia Phillies Losing Via Muncy Walk-Off

The Philadelphia Phillies are on a losing skid after another defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers despite Bryce Harper making an emphatic return to form.

The Philadelphia Phillies dropped another close contest on Wednesday afternoon after losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers for the third time in as many days after a Max Muncy walk-off grand slam.

The Phillies (15-17) were on a hot streak coming into the series and the return of Bryce Harper was supposed to spark something special. On Wednesday, Harper looked vintage as he collected three hits and two walks. He also sparked two different offensive outbursts during the game.

The Phillies were swept as the Dodgers won the game via a Max Muncy walk-off grand slam that was given up by Craig Kimbrel. Philadelphia seemed to be in control most of the game, but Los Angeles capitalized when it mattered most.

Aaron Nola took the mound for the Phillies, and while he didn't look as good as he did in his last start, he was able to put together a 6.1 inning performance where he gave up four earned runs.

It's not exactly the awe-inspiring performance the team was looking for from Nola, but it was an improvement on his season performance.

It's a tough loss to swallow for Philadelphia, but now they must turn their eyes towards the Boston Red Sox. The Phillies will host the Red Sox for a three-game weekend series at Citizens Bank Park that begins Friday at 7:05 p.m. ET. Zack Wheeler (3-1m 3.86) will take the mound against Chris Sale (2-2, 6.75)
