Hoskins Not Ruling Out Return To Phillies In October For Postseason

After a season ending ACL injury, Rhys Hoskins is hopeful he could return for postseason.

Rhys Hoskins is out for the regular season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

But he’s hopeful of a return in October for the postseason.

“I’m going to do everything in my power to give myself an opportunity that if and when we are playing in late October, I have a chance to contribute to that,” Hoskins said.

Hoskins hit 30 home runs in the regular season and six more in the playoffs as the Philadelphia Phillies came within two wins of a World Series title last season.

Hoskins will be a free agent after this season so his future in Philadelphia is very much a question mark considering the injury.

During the weekend home series against the Cincinnati Reds, Hoskins received a standing ovation from the passionate crowd.

The outpouring of support was overwhelming to Hoskins.

“Just being able to be here but be part of it was something that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life,” Hoskins said. “Those pennants stay up there forever.”

Hoskins had ACL surgery nearly two weeks ago in Fort Worth, Tex., and the expected recovery time is seven-to-nine months.

For now, Hoskins will remain as close to the team as possible.

“I’ll pour myself into this team just like I always have and try to find a way to make a positive impact,” he said.
