The Philadelphia Phillies Defeat the Mariners With Massive Comeback

The Philadelphia Phillies come back to win their Wednesday night game against the Seattle Mariners.

The Philadelphia Phillies (12-13) took on the Seattle Mariners (11-13) Wednesday evening at Citizens Bank Park for their second game of the series. Tuesday night held a disappointing loss when the offense couldn't seem to heat up. After some big wins against the Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox, hopes were high that they would continue the momentum.

Unfortunately that didn't happen.

However, their performance Wednesday is something to be excited about. Coming back from a 5-2 split in the second inning they never gave up.

Nick Castellanos knocked a two-run home run 392 feet to clear the wall in just the first inning. But quickly the Mariners overtook the lead bringing home five in the second inning.

Jose Alvarado was electric on the mound. The offense, who had lacked the night before, came alive. JT Realmuto tied the game with an RBI single that was followed quickly by Alec Bohm's RBI single to left field. Phillies took the lead.

Where they remained.

Down but never out.

It was a reassuring win to say the least, especially as the team looks towards taking on the World Series Champions the Houston Astros this weekend. The Mariners were a big undertaking, but the Phillies show that they have the grit and the stamina to stand up against the big contenders.

A morale boost for sure.
