Phillies Not Satisfied With Getting Close To World Series Title

The Philadelphia Phillies front office is not content with a near World Series win. They are ramping up to take it all the way next season.

The Philadelphia Phillies produced an unexpected magical run to the World Series last season.

It was a bit surprising but stirring as well.

While some franchises would be content with coming two games short of a World Series championship, that’s not the case here.

Not even close.

John Middleton and Dave Dombrowski have worked tirelessly since Game 6 against the Houston Astros.

The passionate Phillies fan base has to be buzzing.

Shortstop Trea Turner was signed to an 11-year, $300 million deal. Taijuan Walker was brought in for four years an $72 million to further strengthen one of the top starting pitching staffs in all of Major League Baseball.

Matt Strahm and Craig Kimbrel were added to solidify an already solid bullpen.

Just when it seemed as if the roster was complete, infielder Josh Harrison joined the team on a one-year deal worth a reported $2 million.

With Bryce Harper out until likely the All-Star break while recovering from Tommy John surgery, the Phillies appear to be in a good position.

Depth is vital for teams aspiring to make the playoffs.

Coming close to a title is no longer acceptable. The Phillies crave more. The offseason has proven that in a myriad of ways.

Dombrowski is not satisfied with simply competing. He wants a parade down Broad Street.

Nothing is guaranteed in sports.

But the Phillies are in a position to win. That’s the point.

If problems arise during the season, don’t be surprised to see more changes. Whether that’s bringing up prospects from the Minor Leagues, signing players or making trades, Dombrowski has proven that he’ll never stop tweaking the roster.

The goal is a parade.

And the Phillies are going to do all they can to provide that to the fans.
