Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller Earn March Rookies of the Month

Victor Wembanyama and Brandon Miller took home Draft Digest’s Rookie of the Month honors for March.

There’s just a handful of games remaining in the season, and the highly-lauded 2023 NBA Draft class will be looking to put the finishing touches on their illustrious seasons.

March saw several prospects really hit their stride before capping off the 2023-24 NBA regular season. Here were the nominees for the March Rookies of the Month:

Western Conference: Victor Wembanyama, Spurs

One of the easier picks we’ve made this season, Victor Wembanyama’s already had one of the best-ever rookie seasons we’ve ever seen, and March was potentially his best month.

He averaged 23.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.8 blocks per game, moonlighting more as an All-NBA talent than a rookie. Overall, his efficiency — one of his few knocks earlier in the season — blossomed to 47% overall, 31% from three and 75% from the line, too.

Simply put, Wembanyama is set to coast to the Rookie of the Year Award this season. Chet Holmgren initially put up a strong fight,

Eastern Conference: Brandon Miller, Hornets

If there were an award solely for the Eastern Conference rookie of the year, Brandon Miller would be the odds on favorite, also seeing one of his best stretches of play in the month of March.

The sharpshooter averaged 18.6 points — trailing only Wembanyama — shooting 42% overall and 36% from three on a blistering 8.3 threes taken per game. Even more impressively, he added 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.6 blocks and steals per game.

Millers efforts weren’t necessarily helpful to the Hornets efforts to win games, but Charlotte should be well rewarded with another solid draft pick come June.
