John Lynch Assesses the 49ers' Offseason Additions

Lynch discusses Leonard Floyd, Maliek Collins, De'Vondre Campbell and more.

ORLANDO -- John Lynch spoke at the NFL Annual Meeting this week. Here's what he said about each of the 49ers' offseason additions.

LEONARD FLOYD

LYNCH: "He has been very conistent -- 10 sacks every year. Competes at a real high level. Really good at all facets of the game. Just gives us a very consistent guy on the opposite of Nick Bosa that can make people pay when they have to give all the attention to Nick. He's also very durable. Plays a ton. Loves the way he chases. He just plays with great effort."

TRANSLATION: Floyd is everything the 49ers wanted Chase Young to be but isn't.

YETUR GROSS-MATOS

LYNCH: "We've been at our best when we've had one of those guys -- Arden Key, Charles Omenihu -- who can play outside and then slide down and go to the inside. It just gives you another layer of versatility to your D-line. There's going to be some transition for him. He has played a lot in a two-point stance, and so putting his hand in the down and rushing -- he's really looking forward to that opportunity."

De'VONDRE CAMPBELL

LYNCH: "Things fell through with Eric Kendricks, and Green Bay happened to release De'Vondre, and he's a guy we really have always respected and liked. In pass coverage, he's an excellent player, and he has played the run effectively. It was a blessing that he became available for us and we pounced."

ISAAC YIADOM

LYNCH: "Thought he had a career year. I asked him what clicked, because it never really has happened for him on defense as consistently as it did last year. He talked about his mindset. Stop doubting yourself and just go. He was able to find that last year and really flourish."

MALIEK COLLINS

LYNCH: "Once we parted ways with Arik Armstead, we had a void there. To be able to come to that agreement for a seventh-round pick, a guy who really fits what we do. And it's not a projection. He just played in our system last year with DeMeco Ryans and played at a high level. Plays with tremendous effort and quickness. Had a really good year last year."
