Bruins Sign Forward Matt Poitras to Contract Extension
The Bruins have extended another player.
Boston has signed forward Matt Poitras to a one-year, two-way contract extension through 2026-27 with a cap hit of $850,000.

Last season, the 22-year-old skated in 69 regular season games for the Providence Bruins and tallied 13 goals and 31 assists for 44 points. In the Calder Cup Playoffs, he totaled four points on one goal and three assists in four games.
He also played in three games for Boston where he scored one goal for one point. His goal was in the Bruins’ 6-5 shootout loss to Tampa Bay on Feb. 1.
The Whitby, Ontario, Canada native has played in 69 total games for Boston across three seasons and has recorded seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points.
In the AHL, Poitras has appeared in 109 regular season games across two seasons and tallied 85 points on 30 goals and 55 assists.
Poitras was selected by the Bruins in the second round (No. 22 overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
The extension comes on the same day the Bruins open Training Camp.
As for the rest of the month, Boston will play four preseason games starting this weekend.
The Bruins will host the Washington Capitals on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. ET and the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. After those two games, the team will play a preseason game at Philadelphia on Thursday, Sept. 24 and at Washington on Friday, Sept. 25, both at 7 p.m.
Boston opens its 2026-27 campaign on Tuesday, Sept. 29 against the New York Rangers at home. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN.
