Haas F1 Team Gives Update On Guenther Steiner Lawsuit

The Haas F1 team has confirmed that the lawsuit with its former team principal Guenther Steiner has been "resolved."
Steiner, who had very quickly become a fan-favorite in the Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive, had been the Haas team principal since its entry into Formula 1 in 2016. However, the American team decided not to extend his contract after the 2023 season.
Following his surprising exit, Steiner revealed that he had filed a lawsuit against Haas for unpaid commissions and unauthorized use of his image. The court documents read at the time of the filing:
“Haas F1 chose not to renew Mr. Steiner's Employment Agreement. This was its right. But Haas F1 has done what it has no right to do and refused to pay Mr. Steiner [amount redacted] owed under his Employment Agreement."
It added:
“But after years of accepting the benefits of Mr. Steiner's reputation, experience, and deep connections within the sport, Haas F1 cannot withhold from Mr. Steiner the benefits he has earned.
“Haas F1 was frequently featured in the series, and Mr. Steiner's presence in the show drove more and more fans to Haas F1."
“This exposure was extremely valuable to the upstart racing team, particularly as it looked for additional revenue streams to support itself in the notoriously expensive Formula 1 environment.”
Haas retaliated at the time by filing a lawsuit against Steiner for his book, 'Surviving to Drive.' Steiner has since won this lawsuit.
Providing an update on the original lawsuit filed by Steiner to GP Blog, Haas explained that Steiner has withdrawn the lawsuit:
"Haas Formula, LLC is pleased to announce that Guenther Steiner and Haas Formula, LLC have resolved their dispute, that Guenther Steiner has withdrawn all allegations previously made in his lawsuit, and all claims asserted against Haas Formula, LLC have been dismissed with prejudice. Both Mr. Steiner and Haas Formula, LLC wish each other success in their future endeavours and will have no further comments on this matter."
This comes ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season which is set to kick off with the Australian Grand Prix on March 14-16. Pre-season testing begins next week in Bahrain on 26-28 February.
