Premier League Transfers: Total Money Spent by Clubs in 2026 Summer Window
Premier League clubs still have work to do to top last summer’s record collective spend, but they’re giving it a good crack.
Premier League transfer spending surpassed $4 billion this time last year, and the most expensive move of the window was saved for Deadline Day, when a summer-long saga concluded with Alexander Isak joining Liverpool in a $170 million deal.
These days, transfers exceeding $100 million have become the norm, and the division’s financial juggernauts have again each thrown their weight around in the market in a bid to best prepare themselves for the season ahead.
But which club has spent the most?
Here are the total outlays of every Premier League club this summer.

Chelsea have been no strangers to heavy spending since BlueCo took the reins, and their miserable 2025–26 season means yet another expensive spree has hardly come as a surprise. The Blues are currently the Premier League’s biggest spenders, with their expenditure reaching $476 million.
Their most significant coup was Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who joined for a club record $159.6 million. Chelsea are one of 11 Premier League clubs to break their transfer record this summer.
A Daniel Levy-less Tottenham Hotspur may well usurp their London rivals come the end of the window. Spurs acted ruthlessly (or recklessly, depending on who you ask) to rejuvenate their defense and midfield. They’ve broken their transfer record twice, signing Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali for a combined $252 million, and have spent big in attack, too.
Ipswich Town are following Sunderland’s transfer strategy from a year ago and are the eighth-biggest spenders. Their $233.9 million outlay has surpassed the $221 million the Black Cats spent last year, which helped them thrive on their top flight return and unexpectedly qualify for Europe.
Sunderland’s summer has been much quieter this time around, and they are likely to end the window as the division’s lowest spenders. They’re one of just three clubs (Bournemouth and Crystal Palace) yet to spend more than $100 million.
Manchester United have completed their midfield rebuild with the additions of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba from Premier League sides, making them the ninth-highest spenders. Liverpool have risen to sixth after their costly acquisition of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa have both been gutted by the Premier League and Europe’s elite, forcing them into rather drastic rebuilds. They’re the third and fifth-biggest spenders, respectively.
When Does the Premier League Summer Transfer Window Close?
The 2026 summer transfer window closes on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 11 p.m. BST (6 p.m. ET) for all clubs. The transfer windows in Spain, Italy and Germany close earlier the same evening, with England reverting to a later deadline compared to previous years.
It will reopen at the start of January for the midseason winter window.
