In this story:

A historic offseason brought a renovation to LSU's football program, with a brand new coaching staff heading to Baton Rouge to coach a brand new team full of the nation's top talent.

As Lane Kiffin kicked off the movement by crossing state lines from Ole Miss to LSU, his right-hand man, offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., followed behind closely, coming in to transform the program this season.

Now that the media finally gets to talk to Weis, it isn't all about the switch from one SEC program to another, or the transfer portal additions on the roster, but a star veteran who has blown Weis away.

The Ideal Athlete

In the post-practice press conference during the third week of fall camp, Weis had only good things to say about tight end Trey'Dez Green, being not only blown away by his athletic abilities, but also athlete mindset.

"How much work he puts into it, and his mindset is elite. I mean, he's an absolute pro in everything that he does and the extra work," said Weis.

Green being "an absolute pro in everything" is an early sign that he's ready to take the next step toward the NFL, granted he meets expectations on the field this season.

He goes on to say that Green is the kind of guy who can go all day long. And it seems as if that's his mindset talking, not his elite stamina.

Being able to be LSU's biggest offensive weapon, while also being a hard worker, as Weis said in the press conference, shows that Green is the ideal all-around athlete that any coordinator or coach would want on the roster. It also only grows his opportunities.

"I think what's cool is how much he can handle mentally, you know, putting on his plate, which allows us to put him in a lot of different positions and do some really cool things with him," said Weis.

Green is already set to have another breakout year with LSU this season, and with Weis adding to his opportunities, he can be used at another level to become the ultimate scoring threat.

The Developing Duo

As Green is the highest-ranked tight end in the nation, he'll be the most-watched player on the entire roster, not only for his abilities, but also for how he can develop under this new staff.

Weis is known for being the ultimate developer of men as a coordinator, and after being able to watch Green this spring and fall camp, he's aware of his ability to grow and adapt to Weis' ways.

It will be the full impact of Kiffin's coaching staff renovation, seeing the ultimate stars transform into new identities on the offense to make LSU become a serious threat this season.
