COLLEGE STATION, Tex. — Greetings from Kyle Field, the Home of the 12th Man, where the conditions are cloudy and cool. The temperature at 1 p.m. was 62 degrees, and the high will be 68.

Matt Loeffler's crew will work the game, which will be shown on CBS starting at 2:30 p.m.

Last I saw, Alabama was favored by 17.

Reporters are still welcomed with the notice: "For our first-time visitors, please do not be alarmed as the press box will move during the Aggie War Hymn." It doesn't matter how many times I've experienced it, it's still unsettling.

Pregame

• Freshman Will Reichard (hip) is here and doing some pre-warmup stretching.

• Someone asked this week. No, the Million Dollar Band is not here in force. it's the pep-band version.

• Ok, this is telling. Joseph  Bulovas is warming up on field goals, Will Reichard is not. Looks like Skylar Delong will be the punter, Reichard is basically mimicking snapping him the ball.

• Bulovas is struggling with anything over 40 yards. That will come into play with the play-calling.

• No sign of Chris Owens (knee) with the centers, I'm guessing he didn't make the trip. Emil Ekiyor Jr. will be the third-string center behind Landon Dickerson and Darrian Dalcourt.

• Game captains: Henry Ruggs III, Anfernee Jennings and Tua Tagovailoa.

• Doesn't look like there will be any changes in the starting lineup from what we saw during practice. Byron Young is warming up next to D.J. Dale and Raekwon Davis. Dickerson at center and Deonte Brown at right guard.

• Warmups have wrapped up. Matt Womack is the backup left tackle. Looks like it'll be a late-arriving crowd as a lot of fans are watching the end of Georgia-South Carolina.

First quarter

• Alabama wins the coin flip, defers. Texas A&M to receive.

• Even with hand in cast/wrapped up, Josh Jobe on the kick-coverage team.

• Young does start for Alabama. Crimson Tide in nickel with Shyheim Carter in the mix.

• Texas A&M takes the opening kickoff and goes on a long drive. A Quartney Davis 5-yard score was nullified by a penalty for  a blindside block. Texas A&M scores anyway on a 1-yard Kellen Mond touchdown plunge. Alabama does some interesting substituting including Markail Benton at interior linebacker. 15 plays, 75 yards, 8:03. Texas A&M 7, Alabama 0

• That drive was mostly coaching and preparation. That's the longest drive against Alabama this season in time of possession.

• As expected, Dickerson starts at center, Brown at guard. Alabama had three wide and a tight end, Harris the lone man in the backfield. Second play was a slant to DeVonta Smith for those of you in a pool.

• On third-and-7 at the 34, Alabama goes five wide, gets the ball to Jaylen Waddle. All he needed was a block from DeVonta Smith and its six points. Alabama's answer was 10 plays, 73 yards, 4:16. Alabama 7, Texas A&M 7

•  Waddle's first touchdown of the season was before his hometown fans. Tua Tagovailoa on first drive, 5-7 56 yards in including the 34 yard touchdown.

• Texas A&M's response: Three-and-out.

• On third-and-10, slant to Smith. Touchdown, 47 yards. 4 plays, 57 yards, 0:45. Alabama 14, Texas A&M 7

Second quarter

• This is a first-quarter note, but on the TD Tagovailoa read the safety blitzing and put the ball in the hole. Great read.

• A really impressive sideline catch by Davis for 17 yards has Texas A&M back in the red zone. Mond has a wide open receiver in a crossing route on third down and can't hit him. Aggies settle for a 31-yard field goal. Drive: 10 plays, 61 yards, 3:12, Alabama 14, Texas A&M 10.

• Alabama goes two tight ends has has the Aggies on their heels again. A 15-yard gain by Brian Robinson Jr. has the Crimson Tide at the 21. On third -and-5 at the 16 Tua Tagovailoa and Jerry  Jeudy can't connect and both are like "Dude, what are you doing" at each other. Bulovas makes a 35-yard field off the right post and in. Drive: 8 plays, 46 yards, 3:23. Alabama 17, Texas A&M 10.

• On third-and-17, defensive lineman Christian Barmore with a big sack. The celebration dance needs a little work, though. Aggies go three-and-out again, punts, and Waddle picks up the bouncing ball and returns it 43 yards to the A&M 19.

• On third down, Tagovailoa steps up and hits Najee Harris with a 16-yard touchdown reception. Drive: 3 plays, 19 yards, 0:49. Alabama 24, Texas A&M 10.

• Alabama in complete control. Shyheim Carter forces a fumble, Xavier McKinney recovers as Alabama has the ball at the 26. looking to take a huge lead and really silence this crowd.

• On third-and-9 at the 13, Alabama goes five wide again and Tua Tagovailoa looks over the middle for Jeudy and has his first pick of the season. First interception in 187 attempts, which had led the nation.

• Aided by a personal-foul penalty, Texas A&M crosses midfield, but that's followed by a holding penalty on the Aggies. Barmore was subsequently called for a personal foul, another high hit to the head of the quarterback (he got yelled at by both Saban and position coach Baker), which leads to a field goal. Drive: 10 plays, 69 yards, 2:00. Halftime: Alabama 24, Texas A&M 13.

Third quarter

• Nick Saban halftime quote: “We’ve got to compete every play of the game and keep playing. We obviously let an opportunity slip away down here with the interception. We knew they were going to go two minutes, and we got two penalties. That’s 30 yards right there, which is what gave them the field goal. We did play better on defense after the first series and we’re going to have to continue to do that.”

• The crowd is leaving early. The empty seats after halftime are sticking out.

• Jaylen Waddle had gone to the locker room early after the interception. Whatever it was, he seems fine and is back on the field.

• A 26-yard gain by Jerry Jeudy has Alabama knocking on the door, but the drive stalls. Joseph Bulovas makes a 27-yard field goal. Drive: 9 plays, 51 yards, 4:07. Alabama 27, Texas A&M 13

• Between Waddle (86) and Ruggs (105), Alabama already has 191 return yards.

• Tagovailoa goes deep to Ruggs for a 33-yard touchdown. It's his fourth of the game, third to a wide receiver. Jeudy is the only one who doesn't have one, and you can tell he wants one. This place is pretty quiet. Drive 5 plays, 55 yards, 1:44. Alabama 34, Texas 13.

• Two statistical items, Alabama just went over 300 offensive yards, and is now only behind in time of possession: 19:05-18.20.

• Mond took a pounding on the drive, but guided Texas A&M to a touchdown, with tight end Jalen Wydermyer breaking free uncovered and scoring on a 25-yard reception. The possession had nearly ended on a Trevon Diggs interception, but he was correctly called for holding the receiver on his route before making the pick. Drive: 7 plays, 82 yards, 2:29. Alabama 34, Texas A&M 20.

• Alabama was in danger of losing the momentum as tight end Miller Forristall was called for holding on first down. A little swing pass to Brian Robinson Jr., though, resulted in a first down.

• The Tide had third-and-1 at midfield, and ran up the middle for an easy first down. Yeah, I think this offensive line is going to stick. They've played pretty well today.

• Forristall helped off the field. Looked like an ankle. He goes to the medical tent.

• Waddle with a 42-yard punt return. Alabama up to 259 return yards.

Fourth quarter

• Forristall still in the tent. Waddle with 176 total yards, Ruggs with 164.

• Robinson gets a 2-yard touchdown run after Alabama stacks the line with two running backs in the backfield and shifts Harris wide. Jimbo Fisher challenged, but there was  really no point. Drive 5 plays, 33 yards, 2:03., However, the extra-point was blocked and I think I could have blocked that attempt. Alabama 40, Texas A&M 20.

• Forristall out of the tent. He's on the sideline and he keeps putting weight on his foot to try and test it out. Still think it's an ankle.

•  Ale Kaho blocks another punt and this time Terrell Shavers recovers it for a touchdown (he missed catching the block last time). Alabama 47, Texas A&M 20.

•Texas A&M runs on first down and starts running the clock. It did get a touchdown, though.

• Forristall returned to the game.
