University of Alabama junior left tackle Alex Leatherwood was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week on Monday morning.

He totaled 62 snaps, missing just one assignment, during the 35-13 win over Tennessee at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Leatherwood did not allow a sack, hurry or quarterback pressure against the Vols.

"He played really well," Nick Saban said. "It was probably his best game overall.

"He was physical, he played with a lot of toughness, he didn’t make any mental errors. He really did a nice job."

He helped the Alabama offense average 6.4 yards per play on the night, including 140 rushing yards. The junior opened holes for a 5.2 yards per carry average on 28 carries from the Tide running backs.

As for the Crimson Tide coaching staff's players of the week: Najee Harris and Leatherwood on offense; Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Lewis on defense; and Ale Kaho and Ty Perine on special teams.

OFFENSE

Najee Harris

  • Recorded his third 100-yard rushing performance of the season and second in as many games with 105 yards on a team-high 21 carries
  • Led all backs with two rushing scores, with the junior taking it in from one yard out on both touchdowns
  • Added four receptions for 48 yards in the passing game

DEFENSE

Anfernee Jennings

  • Tied for second on the team in tackles with seven stops, including half a tackle for loss (-1 yard)
  • The redshirt senior’s efforts helped limit the Vols to only 231 yards of total offense

Terrell Lewis

  • Matched Jennings with seven tackles, adding a team-high two sacks (-20 yards) and three tackles for loss (-21 yards)
  • The two sacks matched his career-high mark while the three tackles for loss were a new career-best for the redshirt junior, surpassing his previous total of two which came at Texas A&M last weekend

SPECIAL TEAMS

Ale Kaho

  • Contributed one stop on kickoff coverage to limit the Volunteer returner to just a 13-yard return
  • The sophomore has been named a special teams player of the week now in four of the Tide’s seven matchups so far this season, including the last three consecutive games

Ty Perine

  • Came off the bench to punt for the Crimson Tide in his first game action as a freshman
  • Called on to punt just twice but totaled 93 yards on the two kicks with a long of 51
  • Also contributed one tackle on punt coverage to prevent a UT score.
