Alabama junior wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is the Bama Central Crimson Tide Athlete of the Week for the weed of Oct. 18-25.

Waddle suffered a season-ending injury to his right ankle on the opening kickoff on Saturday at Tennessee. It was later revealed that he had high-ankle sprain as well as a fracture.

On the day, his only stats were his 15 kick return yards from that play.

This week's selection for the award is a little atypical, but it is in honor of the stellar — albeit shortened — career that Waddle has had at Alabama. Due to Waddle's status as a junior, it is expected for him to join the ranks of the NFL in next year's draft, meaning that his time in the crimson and white has come to a close.

Waddle was one of the more dynamic playmakers in college football, excelling at the deep ball reception. In his three years with the Crimson Tide, he accounted for 103 receptions for 1,965 yards and 17 touchdowns. For his career, Waddle averaged an impressive 19.1 yards per reception and 59.5 receiving yards per game.

Waddle has been one of the most fun people to watch play football for Alabama this season, and he will be sorely missed on the gridiron. We at Bama Central wish him well in his recovery process.

Congratulations to Waddle for earning this week's honor.
