Countdown to Crimson Tide's 2023 Season Opener:
69 days
Did You Notice?
• Alabama's Nick Dunlap drained a 20-foot-putt on the 18th hole to complete the comeback and win the Northeast Amateur at Rhode Island's Wannamoisett Country Club. His four-round 264 total was 12-under on the par-69 course to edge Caleb Surratt by two shots. Dunlap was coming off playing the U.S. Open and will next head to Pinehurst, N.C. to compete in the North & South Amateur.
“Hectic,” he told amateurgolf.com. “I’ve got one more week on the road, but that’s all summer and I enjoy it traveling, meeting new people, going to new places, new golf courses. I’m enjoying it. Wannamoisett is an unreal venue. It’s my first time playing here and it’ll always be special to me,” he said. “I look forward to coming back next year.”
• Justin Thomas continued to shoot up the leaderboard at the Travelers, scoring a 62 in the third round and moved into a tie for seventh at -14. However, Rickie Fowler was the biggest mover of the day, shooting 60 at TPC River Highlands to move into a tie for fourth at -15.
“In a way, we’re kind of feeding off each other with me playing right behind him,” Fowler told CBS Sports’ Amanda Renner per Golf.com. “It was fun. I know he’s been struggling a little bit as of late, so to see him play well yesterday and then get back on the horse today and get going— that’s when it’s fun is when you can feed off your buddies and get going.”
• Stephane Meadow shot a third-round 67 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Open, one of five majors on the LPGA Tour, and at -5 will be in the final group Sunday. She's two strokes off the leader, Leona Maguire. Meadow and Maguire are longtime friends from Ireland.
• Dicky Pride matched his opening-round -4, and at -8 is still in the mix at the Dicks Sporting Goods Open. He's tied for seventh at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, N.Y.
• Incoming Alabama freshman Kierson McDonald was named the Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year after helping lead Oak Mountain High School Eagles to a 22-4 record this season and a 7A semifinals appearance. She had 31 goals and 15 assists to earn First-Team All-State honors.
• Former Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster had four tackles to help his USFL team to a playoff win.
• According to NBCSports.com, only 31 players selected in the 2023 NFL Draft remain unsigned, but one of them is former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who was the first-overall pick by the Charlotte Panthers. Most of the unsigned players are first- or second-round selections, and their agents are trying to enhance the guarantees in the initial four-year deals.
• Noah Clowney on getting drafted:

Crimson Tide Quote of the Day:
"I know that I picked up a great deal of things during my association with Coach Bryant. I know he influenced me as a coach by teaching me to never give up on your talent. And he told me there was no substitution for work. He convinced his people. And when players and coaches are convinced they can win, they're going to win." — Gene Stallings on Bear Bryant
