The NCAA Tournament run officially starts today for Alabama women's basketball, as the Crimson Tide will take on the Baylor Lady Bears.

Kristy Curry's squad enters as a 10-seed after a rough end to the regular season and an early exit from the SEC Tournament. But the Tide still has All-SEC guard Brittany Davis to lean on, along with the perimeter shooting of Aaliyah Nye and Hannah Barber.

Baylor is led by a strong core that includes Big 12 First Team selection Sarah Andrews and Second Team selection Caitlin Bickle. The Lady Bears also have unanimous Freshman of the Year Darianna Littlepage-Buggs to contend with as well.

Curry talked yesterday about what Alabama needs to focus on in regard to defending the Lady Bears.

"They're really dynamic with their European ball screen and the things that they do," Curry said. "We've got to understand the importance of protecting the rim. We've got to make sure that we do that first and foremost.

"Secondly, we've got to get back in transition and limit their looks at the rim. They do a phenomenal job of sprinting free-throw line to free-throw line. So you got to protect the rim against Baylor to have success. I think that's going to be a big challenge for us."

It will come down to if Baylor's key players show up, or if Alabama gets scoring from multiple players outside of Davis.
