No. 12 Alabama opened up play at the Clearwater Invitational with a win over Duke Thursday afternoon and now takes on No. 2 UCLA. 

The Bruins opened up the tournament with a run-rule victory over Nebraska Thursday. UCLA is one of the most storied programs in college softball and is consistently at the top of the rankings. They last won a national title in 2019.

The Crimson Tide is 1-3 all time against the Bruins, but the last meeting was a memorable one. At the 2021 Women's College World Series, Montana Fouts threw a perfect game as part of the 6-0 Alabama win. 

Fouts will be back in the circle against the Bruins Friday after pitching a complete game Thursday.The two teams met the last time the Crimson Tide played in Clearwater with the Bruins winning 7-0 that day. 

First pitch was scheduled for 3 p.m. on ESPN2, but will be delayed because of how long the Arkansas vs. Florida State game is taking. 

The Alabama game will now start at approximately 3:35 p.m. UCLA is the designated home team, so Kenleigh Cahalan will get things started for the Crimson Tide at the plate.

    • Fouts strikes out Brady for the second out. 
    • Back to back infield singles for the Bruins creating a little trouble for Alabama with one out.

    • A walk loads the bases with no outs, and Patrick Murphy takes a break to call a meeting in the circle. 
    • A hot shot off the bat of Brady bounces past Heivilin to the outfield for a double. Two runners in scoring position with no outs for the Bruins.
    • Leadoff single for UCLA.

    • The next three batters are retired after the Prange home run, but the Crimson Tide jumps out to an early lead over the Bruins. 
    • Well, we've also seen this one before: two batter, two runs for Alabama. Ashley Prange blasts one over the left field wall for her second home run in two days and third of the season. Alabama 2, UCLA 0
      • Prange's home run doubles the total runs given up by Faraimo this year. 
      • We've seen this one before: one pitch, one swing, one hit for Cahalan. Leadoff single for Alabama.
