Former Alabama safety and two-time pro bowler Eddie Jackson has officially been released from the Bears, bringing his seven year tenure in Chicago to a close, Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reported on Thursday.

Jackson was a fourth round pick in 2017 after a four year career in Tuscaloosa with the Crimson Tide.

Rated as a 4-star prospect in the 2013 recruiting cycle, Jackson chose Alabama over a plethora of other offers, including the likes of Florida State, LSU and more.

He entered the program as a cornerback and saw time in seven games his true freshman season, starting four. Heading into 2014, Jackson was expected to take over as the starter before suffering an ACL injury in spring practice.

Although he missed the first few game of the season, the sophomore returned to the lineup in week two and never missed a beat. He started ten of eleven games to end the year and helped the Tide earn a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship.

In Jackson's junior year, he made the switch to safety and continued to thrive. He racked up nearly 50 tackles, four pass deflections and an incredible seven interceptions in his final two seasons in Tuscaloosa.

In his time in Chicago, Jackson continued his excellence. He was named a First-Team All-Pro in 2018 and is listed as one of the 100 greatest Chicago Bears of all-time.

In seven years, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida native recorded 459 tackles, 44 pass deflections and 15 interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns.

At just 30 years old, the former four-star could certainly still have some left in the tank and several teams should come calling as the offseason progresses.
