Alabama Not Rushing Latrell Wrightsell Back From Head Injury

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball has been sorely missing senior guard Latrell Wrightsell over the past two games. Without one of its leading 3-point shooters and better perimeter defenders, the Crimson Tide got sent to overtime at home against Florida on Wednesday and got run out of the gym against Kentucky on Saturday.

During head coach Nate Oats' Tuesday press conference ahead of Wednesday's game against Ole Miss, he wasn't overly optimistic about Wrightsell being available for Wednesday.

"With the head injury stuff, it's every day, you've got to reevaluate. Make sure he's not getting a headache," Oats said. "He's still not 100 percent going to play tomorrow. [...] It'd be nice to have him back sooner rather than later but you also don't want to rush him. You know, these things could go on and on if you don't handle it correctly and in the right manner.

"We're going to do it the right way and not rush him back, but we're looking forward to getting him back as soon as we can."

Wrightsell has been a major x-factor when he's been able to play for the Crimson Tide, especially since he's gotten comfortable in SEC play. Alabama is currently undefeated when Wrightsell has scored at least 10 points in a game, and he has the lowest turnover rate of any player in Alabama's rotation.

Tipoff for No. 14 Alabama's game against Ole Miss is set for 8 p.m. in Oxford, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
