Nick Saban Plays in Mr. October Celebrity Golf Classic

Newly retired Alabama football head coach Nick Saban played in a charity golf tournament with dozens of celebrities, including Travis Scott and 50 Cent.

Former Alabama football head coach Nick Saban has only been retired for a couple of weeks, but his competitive mindset was taken to the green on Monday, as he took part in the Mr. October Celebrity Golf Classic.

The tournament was run by Hall of Fame baseball player Reggie Jackson (also known as Mr. October), who created the Mr. October Foundation. This charity focuses on improving STEM education and workforce pipeline for underserved youth.

Rapper Travis Scott helped sponsor the golf tournament and many A-list celebrities and current and former athletes joined what became a star-studded roster. Some of the names included Nick Saban, Lawrence Taylor, Jack Nicklaus, Ken Griffey Jr., Sugar Ray Leonard, George Brett, Jorge Posada, Johnny Bench, Mike Schmidt, Pedro Martinez, Thurman Thomas, Albert Pujols, Andruw Jones, John Smoltz, Mike Singletary, Marshall Faulk, Terrell Owens, Brooks Koepka, Grant Hill, Michael Brantley and a handful of other Astros. Artists 50-Cent, Bun B, Slim Thug and actors Anthony Mackie and Dave Chapelle graced the course too, per The Palm Beach Post.

“We take great pride in the fact that our STEM curriculum has reached over one million students,” Jackson said in December when the tournament was starting to really form. “I want to thank Travis Scott for his shared and longstanding commitment to ensuring that no matter where children live, they should have access to quality learning environments.”

The typical retiree spends far more time golfing now than when they were working, but Saban assured fans that his time with Alabama football isn't over as he's made an office for himself inside of Bryant-Denny Stadium

Additionally, new Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer has been very open about giving the seven-time National Champion access to the team.
