Crimson Tide 5-Star Wide Receiver Commitment Reclassifies for 2024

The top receiver in the Class of 2025 announces he'll be joining the Crimson Tide a year early.

Last week, standout prospect Ryan Williams got a good look at his future home, playing in one of the state championship games at Bryant-Denny Stadium, which hosted this year's AHSAA Super 7 Championships in high school football.

Apparently, he liked what he saw, to the point that he's decided to join the Alabama Crimson Tide ahead of schedule.

Williams announced Monday morning that he's reclassifying into the 2024 recruiting class.

The 2022 Mr. Football winner as the state's best player will join the Crimson Tide next summer. Considered a 5-star talent for the Class of 2025, and the consensus No. 1 wide receiver in the nation, Williams accounted for 1,585 total yards and 26 total touchdowns in 14 games while helping lead Saraland High School to the Class 6A title game.

Although the Spartans weren't able to pull off the win on Friday, he caught 11 passes for an AHSAA record 232 yards, with two receiving touchdowns, and four carries for four yards and one rushing touchdown. To start the second half, Williams also took the opening kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown.

"It felt like home (playing in Bryant-Denny)," he said after the game on Friday night, all but ending the speculation that he might be considering a flip to follow in the footsteps of his dad Ryan Williams Sr. to Auburn.

"I was very comfortable playing here."

On Saturday, Williams went live on Instagram on campus and took pictures with other visiting prospects in the team tunnel.

Nick Saban's staff has been hot on the recruiting trail the last week, with coaches traveling across the southeast to make a final push before signing day.

It didn't hurt, though, that it was Bryant-Denny's turn to host the Super 7. Last week's games saw several Crimson Tide commits win championships, with 2024 defensive line commit Isaia Faga and 2024 cornerback commit Jaylen Mbakwe winning MVP in the 7A and 6A title games, respectively.

On Mbakwe, Williams said: "That's my dawg. we talk almost weekly; with everything that's going to happen in the future, we have to talk."

Williams will join Amari Jefferson and Rico Scott as wide receivers in the 2024 class, who figure to start working closely with 5-star quarterback prospect Julian Sayin.
