Top targets still remain for Alabama's Class of 2020

The University of Alabama has finished with the No. 1 recruiting class eight of the last nine years according to 247sports. In 2018, the one year during that span they did not have the highest ranked class, they finished fifth.

For the Crimson Tide to regain the unofficial recruiting national championship title, they must top Clemson's class, which sits as the country's best.

The Crimson Tide's 2020 class only having two 5-stars compared to the Tigers' six is a big reason for the 2nd-place ranking as of now.

There is still work to be done on the recruiting trail, and with the early signing period just a few months away and National Signing Day on the horizon after that, there is plenty of time for the Crimson Tide to surpass the Tigers.

The following players are some of the Crimson Tide's top targets that remain on the board:

5-star DE Jordan Burch (Hammond School - Columbia, SC)

The No. 2 overall prospect in the country recently visited the University of South Carolina to watch the Crimson Tide beat the Gamecocks last Saturday. Burch boasts a 6-foot-5, 250 pound frame that allows him to terrorize opposing offensive linemen and quarterbacks. He even has the speed and athleticism to play running back.

Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia are the main schools standing in the Crimson Tide's way of landing the nation's top pass rusher.

5-star RB Zachary Evans (North Shore - Houston, TX)

Evans is arguably the most touted running back in the Class of 2020. He checks in as the seventh best player and top-ranked at his position on 247sports. He runs the ball with many different styles, straight-line downhill, can burst to the outside, or he will use his fantastic stop-start ability to evade defenders. Teammate and offensive lineman Damieon George is currently a verbal commit for the Crimson Tide and he will have to some recruiting of his own to get Evans on board to Tuscaloosa.

As of Friday morning, it appears Evans has made up his mind on where he will play at the next level. The decision is between Texas A&M, Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Alabama.

5-star TE Arik Gilbert (Marietta - Marietta, GA)

In recent years, the Crimson Tide has had a lot of success from the tight end position in O.J. Howard and Irv Smith Jr. Neither of those two standouts were graded as highly as Gilbert on 247sports. His length and size provide mismatches to opposing defensive backs.

During the summer, Gilbert listed his final schools to choose from. If the Crimson Tide were to land the nation's No. 1 tight end, it would be a huge get for a position of need in the near future.

5-star ILB Noah Sewell (Orem - Orem, UT)

Sewell has been compared to former LSU linebacker Devin White as a hard hitting tackler. The 6-foot-2 and 265 pound linebacker knows how to find ball carriers in space and possess a quick ability to accelerate at the right time in order to chase them down despite his thick frame. The biggest road blocks between Sewell and the Crimson Tide are the Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs

4-star WR Xzavier Henderson (Columbus - Miami, FL)

South Florida continues to produce highly rated wide receiving prospects each year. The Crimson Tide have already landed Thiau Jones-Bell in this class from the area and now the focus has shifted to Henderson. At 6-foot-3 and only 180 pounds, Henderson can move quickly down the field as a deep ball threat. Clemson and Florida are major threats to the Crimson Tide's pursuit of 12th best wide receiver in the country. His decision date has been set for January 4th, 2020.

4-star DT McKinnley Jackson (George County - Lucedale, MS)

Jackson is the Magnolia State's best player according to 247sports. He has the ability to clog up running lanes well with his 6-foot-2, 330 pound body. Jackson is the prototypical SEC caliber defensive lineman. His college future will be decided on National Signing Day between the likes of LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Alabama.
